Ahead of weekend Vodacom Premier League Kick off, Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) has signed a one year medical insurance deal with National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF) which covers all players of the 16 team league plus respective technical bench members.
This means players plus technical bench members can now access medical treatment at all NHIF recognized medical facilities within the country for free.
Speaking during the signing ceremony at TFF headquarters in Karume, TFF Secretary General Mwesigwa Selestine thanks the NHIF for the sponsorship.
“We have always pushed clubs to provide medical cover for their players and members of technical bench as a matter of our policy but they have not been able to do so, with the coming on board of NHIF, the issue can now rest.” Selestine said.
NHIF spokesperson Sungi explained that the deal covers all treatments, “If a player or member of technical bench fall ill, he/she will be free to seek treatment at any facility that is approved by NHIF. Our intention is to ensure the players are of good health so that they can focus on playing football.”
Vodacom Premier League Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Boniface Wambura, also thanked NHIF for relieving them the burden of catering for treatment of players and technical bench members.
