Uganda Cranes Head Coach Milutin “Micho” Sredojovic could be the next in line to take over the hot seat as Nigeria’s Super Eagles Coach following the resignation of Sunday Oliseh last week.
A credible source has intimated to Soka25east.com that the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) approached Federation of Ugandan Football Association (FUFA), through their President Eng. Moses Magogo for the services of the Serbian who still have two years left on his contract, for a possible switch to the West Africans.
“NFF approached FUFA for the services of Micho; they (NFF) wanted to meet him and Uganda officials in Zurich, Switzerland during the just concluded FIFA Special Congress, but the Coach didn’t travel.” The source said.
Contacted for comment, Micho was cagy saying his focus for now is Uganda’s next assignment, which is the AFCON qualifiers against Burkina Faso on 26th and 29th of this month, adding that he has not thought about his future at the helm of the Cranes, and he will only do so at the right time.
“I still have two years remaining on my contract; I want to see it through before I think about my next destination. For now I want to qualify Uganda to the AFCON 2017, starting with the next match against Burkna Faso.” Micho said.
The Super Eagles are currently under U23 Coach Samson Siasia who is expected to handle the team against Egypt in the AFCON 2017 qualifiers this month, and there after a permanent Coach could take over.
46 years Micho has over 15 years experience in the African game, having worked with various clubs in South and Eastern Africa including; Orlando Pirates, Yanga SC, St.George, Villa SC and Al Hilal.
He has managed two national teams, Rwanda and Uganda. He has succeeded in moulding Uganda into a formidable force to reckon with in African football, and in the process earning himself respect and admiration across the continent.
