Nigeria coach Gernot Rohr is confident ahead of his side’s 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier game against Algeria at Uyo on Sunday.
Rohr said Nigeria have made huge progress ahead of the Group B qualifier for the 2018 World Cup.
“We have prepared a gameplan that can suit us to get a win,” Rohr told media . “And we have an upper hand in our own environment and home support.
Nigeria will need all their players to perform at their optimum if they are to end a run of bad results aganist Algeria.
Rohr admitted: “I know it will be difficult but I’m sure we will make a good game and all the players will give their best.
“The difference between Zambia and Algeria is that there are very big players in the Algerian team, they have one of the best players in England, they have champions, they have very good players who are formed in France, most of them from the French academies, and so they have good education, good discipline, and good tactical qualities,” he said.
Nigeria may also feel boosted by the news that Algeria suffered an injury blow, with midfielder Hilal Soudani now rated as a serious doubt for the match after twisting his ankle in training.
The Desert Foxes also have problems up front with a number of other strikers already ruled out of the match.
