Nigeria Super Falcons will today take on Harambee Starlets in the last Group B match of the 2016 Africa Women Cup of Nations tournament in Cameroon.
Nigeria who currently sit on the top of the group will need a victory in this game to revive their hopes of defending the tittle that they won in the 2014 edition hosted in Namibia.
In an interview ahead of today crucial match ,Falcons assistant coach Ann Chijene, said they will not underate Kenya.
“We are here for business and come Saturday, we will be ready to play against Kenya. The players are looking forward to Saturday’s match.
“Every team qualified is a good team and we are leaving no stone unturned. We know them (Kenya) and we will play as if it is our first match. Every team is as good as winning the championship”, she said.
Speaking in the same vein, Super Falcons striker,Ngozi Okobi said that playing aganist Starlets will not be an easy game.
“My first match was against Ghana. I saw that the midfield is collapsing against Ghana and that is exactly what I came on to do. Our expectation is to win all games and playing against Kenya is no child’s play”, she said.
However, unconfirmed reports coming from the Super Falcons camp indicate that the players are uncomfortable with empty promises from the Nigeria Football Federations and have vowed to stop playing after Kenya game.
A bitter exchange of words between federations officials and players was witnessed hours before Ghana match with players demanding for their outsanding allowances.
Nigeria currently top the Group B with four points after pulling a comfortable 6-0 win over Mali and a draw aganist Ghana.
Their opponents Harambee Starlets have already bowed out of Group after losing their two matches aganist Ghana and Mali.
