Nigeria’s Super Falcons began the defence of their African Womens Cup of Nations title with an emphatic 6-0 win over Mali in an explosive Group B encounter at the Stade De Limbe in Cameroon.
Arsenal Ladies’ striker Asisat Oshoala produced superb performance netting four times, while Francisca Ordega and Uchechi Sunday were also on the scorers sheet for the Super Falcons.
The match started on a fast note with the Nigerian side dictating the pace as Francisca Ordega opened scoring in 22nd minutes into the game.
The Malians fired a shot through Barissa Toure in the 32th minute but Falcon’s goalkeeper Alaba Jonathan thwarted that effort.
In the 40th minute, Arsenal Ladies striker Asista Oshoala gave the African Champions the second goal with Super Falcons taking 2-0 before half time.
Uchechi Sunday scored the third goal in the 47th minute after many unsuccessful attempts this time coming through a well taken penalty.
Oshoala got a brace in the 64th minute through a smooth pass from Rita Chikwelu.
Few minutes later , a rampaging Oshoala netted another goal through a low shot that left Malian goalkeeper Samake Goundo frustrated.
The sixth goal came again from Asisat Oshoala with a clinical strike in the 77th minute making it 6-0 for Super Falcons.
