A Nigerian footballer, Henry Esin has been stabbed to death in an attack at a Welsh night club.

According to Naijapals,the 27 year-old Esin, an amatuer fooballer with Llanfairpwell FC was found unconscious outside Peep nightclub in Bangor by police on Saturday.

He was rushed to Stoke hospital for treatment at their special trauma unit where he was pronounced dead on Sunday.

Latest reports indicate that Police have arrested a 26-year-old man from Bangor area and they are requesting anyone with information to assist them in the investigations.

“Police need the support of the community and we urge everyone who witnessed this incident or its immediate aftermath to come forward – whether they consider they saw an incident or not we would like to speak to them,” DCI Kearney is quoted to say by UK Sun.

Esin has been remembered by friends and teammates as a “respected young man” among a flood of tributes on Facebook.

However, by the time of going to press the club could not verify his nationality.

Llanfairpwell FC has announced they will hold a minute’s silence before their game aganist Cameas Bay on Wednesday,April 5.
