Super Eagles and Kasımpaşa centre-back Kenneth Omeruo believes Nigeria is capable of beating the highly fancied Poland team in a friendly later this month.

The 24-year-old defender was speaking with full confidence ahead the fast-approaching pre-World Cup friendly set to be played in Wroclaw on 23 March in an exclusive chat from his base in Turkey.

“I’m well prepared for the game, especially because I am in good shape and also because it’s important for the team’s preparation,”Omeruo said.

The odds are however stuck against the Nigerians who have suffered three successive defeats between the two sides but the on-loan Chelsea defender seems unfazed by the daunting task ahead.

“Stopping their strikers and especially Richard Lewandowski will not be a problem for us because I am very sure we can definitely contain him. We just have to work as a team and most importantly, follow the manager’s tactics,” Omeruo added.

Omeruo is expected to partner in defence with Hull City’s Olaoluwa Aina and Nantes’ Chidozie Awaziem in a match that the Nigeria Federation will provide ideal preparation for their opening Group D game against Croatia in Russia on 16 June.
