NKANA AND ZESCO ON TOUR OF DUTY ..
Impossible is not Football
When the final whistle blew at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium the past Sunday evening, coach George Lwandamina and his troops were left scratching their heads at the the results of the Confederation Cup match. They had wasted a chance to increase their points tally and expand their horizons for the next few games to come . But they were sauced to a share of spoils by Sudanese giants, Al Hilal and now Zesco has to make a sojourn in the Sudanese capital to try and rewrite that script. Al Hilal are a stubborn battalion when playing at home.
Nevertheless, it was a different story in Kitwe early on that same sunday when Nkana FC hosted Asante Kotoko of Ghana. Posting a smooth and comfortable 3 – 1 victory. And suddenly shoot to the top of the table of the group. A bubbly Nkana should fancy themselves well to fight for a point. They too have rediscovered the scoring boots.
For both reactionary time was equally limited. There was pretty much little time to continue with their sorrowful moments and exuberance for both Zesco United and Nkana as they had to quickly get into flight hustles. Traveling to Sudan and Ghana respectively.
The Sudanese had virtually setup camp in Zambia before meeting Zesco. Having squared off with Nkana in this crashed and pressure scheduled season. Games are coming thick and fast.
OBJECTIVES OF THE TWO CLUBS
NKANA
The ultimate goal is to make it into the last eight and already with six points , Nkana will be assured of a slot in the last eight if they get four from the possible nine points
The assignment here is to get anything on the road and maximum points at home. They only have one home game against Zesco United which will be tough. Nkana will celebrate victory with a point in Ghana.
They could qualify with a game to spare if they draw away to Asante Kotoko and beat Zesco United on 10th March 2019.
ZESCO UNITED
Have a more complicated story with the two points dropped at home. They need to compensate the points lost at home and getting them on the road . Zesco United needs to beat Al Hilal and get something at Nkana before they meet up Asante Kotoko on the last day.
BIG COMPLICATION
The complications for these two sides is the Match Day five meeting at Nkana stadium which now looks crucial for both teams to plan their passage into the last eight . But then the games of match day four will have serious bearing on match day five.
But let’s get to match day four…… Zesco United needs a win and Nkana would do with a draw. With a loss for Zesco against Al Hilal and a loss for Nkana in Ghana, Zega Zega will swap positions with Asante Kotoko.
Zega would hope that Nkana posts a good a result in Ghana that should offer them a huge lifeline. But again they have work to do in the final match against Nkana.
This script is changing faces every after match day and am already awaiting the face it will show us after the end of this day!
The dream still remains the two Zambian Clubs both making it to the last eight.
All the best
