Walter Bwalya struck on 69 minutes to earn Nkana a 1-0 win over Power Dynamos in the most anticipated Kopala Derby played at a jam packed Aurthur Davies stadium in Kitwe on Saturday 21 October 2017.
The win sees Nkana leapfrog Power Dynamos on the table moving into fifth on 52 points while Power Dynamos dropping into 6th.
The first half was tightly contested with both teams trying to make a break through.
Danny Kabwe was forced to make a early substitution on 17 minutes following an injury to Jimmy Njhobvu. In his place came Lyson Sikaonga.
Nkana were dominant in the first stanza, Walter Bwalya coming close to on numerous occasions but wasted his chances.
Power defender Govenda Simwala rattled the crossbar on 34 minutes much to the agony of Aba Yellow.
Bwalya almost opened the scoring just before halftime but he headed over.
The match was goalless at the break.
Power Dynamos striker Alex Ng’onga made an attempt at goal in the 54th minute but his shot was saved by Moses Mapulanga in goal.
Beston Chambeshi introuced Ronald Kampamba for Danny Silavwe, and his move paid dividents as the striker set up Walter Bwalya to open the scoring in the 69th minute.
Power Dynamos went in search of an equaliser but it was not to be their day, the Red side of Kitwe truimphant after 90 minutes.
