Stanbic Bank Zambia Limited a member of the standard Bank goup and Nkana Football Club announced today that they had agreed a one-year deal for the bank to become one of the club’s sponsors. The agreement, which starts in January 2016 and runs through to the end of the 2016 season, will see the bank’s name and logo appear in the Nkana Football Club Stadium among other things.
Nkana FC has the largest support base across the country as well as supporters from all over the world and has Mopani mines also sponsoring it. Nkana FC is also the only Zambia team to have reached the final of Africa cup of Champions, the fore-runner to the CAF Champions League in 1990.
Vice President of Nkana Football Club, Patrick Ndhlovu said “As a club we are happy that Stanbic has come on board to support the Nkana Football Club 2016 season in sponsoring the Away Games accommodation. Stanbic Bank is a great bank and we are excited that they have decided to partner with us in this sponsorship.
We will ensure we do well so that all our sponsors are happy with the partnerships we have with them. We hope that this will be a continuous sponsorship and we look forward to working with Stanbic in the future”.
Speaking on the partnership, Stanbic Bank Chief Executive Charles Mudiwa said, “We see many opportunities to continue growing our business in areas where we operate and the Copperbelt is one of these areas. As a Bank we believe that Zambia is our home and we drive her growth. This sponsorship symbolises that growth as it will give us a chance to interact with the people in the communities around the Nkana Football Club as we look forward to investing more in these communities.” Mr. Mudiwa further added “Nkana Footbal Club is the most successful club in Zambian league football history with 12 league titles. I look forward to sitting in the Nkana FC stadium and watching this winning team do its magic.”
It is important to note that Mopani mines are the principle sponsors and are the owners with ECM second followed by Stanbic Bank at third.
