MY VIEW IN THE CAF CHAMPIONS LEAGUE FIRST ROUND
NKANA Vs SIMBA
Nkana Stadium
15:00hrs
Nkana FC may be bouyed by an enviabe undefeated run that has stretched to 24 games. And extending the same bouyance on the African Safari by as many years at home.
Knocking on the door step to try and disturb that run are the Tanzanian Champions in the Form of Simba FC.
It is not a side not new to CAF Champions League football, having participated on six occasions already with a number of counting even more in the CAF Confederations Cup.
Nkana has three appearances in this latest format of the Champions League which they have only made a second round berth in 2000, 2002 and 2014. Second round has since been scrapped out and hence the winner of this two legged encounter breaks into the lucrative group stage.
Simba are booming with confidence after eliminating Mbabane Swallows via the 8-1 goal aggregate, while Nkana struggled at home against UD SONGO of Mozambique in that second leg but 3-1 aggregate read on the scoreboard.
This game has all the ingredients of a mouthwatering encounter and fans should brace themselves to be treated to some good football.
Without a doubt Simba play around Cletous Chota Chama and this is a man who knows Nkana too well and has played several times against them ending with the side of the winner.
Nkana have the strength in themselves with the two Kampambas added to Walter Bwalya upfront, they may get goals here if they coordinate well and kill of that disconnect that we saw at home when they played SONGO.
I don’t think Nkana is ready to give up the unbeaten run so is Simba ready to give up the Champions League and drop to Confederation Cup after that 8-1 aggregate against Mbabane Swallows.
Well poised but I think Nkana will grab this one but Simba will get that crucial away goal.
My Prediction: Nkana 2-1 Simba
