NKANA PLOT SONGO CAPTURE
Nkana start the race for their first CAF title in their history and the first stop is in Beira were they take on Tete’s based Songo who have been moved to play their preliminary round encounter against Nkana in Beira as their stadium didn’t meet the CAF standard.
Nkana have had a very successful season in the local league, seizing the Barclays Cup and the Charity Shield and were the closest to the eventual champions in Zesco United.
Nkana are in South Africa and will be heading to Mozambique in this crucial Preliminary round against the current champions of Mozambique in UD Songo and the Chief Executive Officer for Nkana, Charles Chivwele Chakatazya thinks they have done the best for the team and in a brief confirmation with Bwezani he stated, “We hope for the best,” said Chakatazya.
Nkana’s opponents are not an easy prey and Nkana will have to at their best to get anything off UD Songo. The last team to visit Songo in CAF was TP Mazembe who were humbled via a 3-0 score line.
The winner of this encounter will face either Simba of Tanzania or Mbabane Swallows on Mozambique who face each other in the other preliminary encounter.
