Nkana take on Zesco United in 2019 Charity Shield

The last time they were at this stadium, these two teams competed in the final of the Barclay’s Cup and Nkana were victorious.

They meet with the view of the CAF Confederation Cup in the horizon and that alone takes something away of this Charity Shield edition. Its very possible that the two teams may field stringe players to set the tone for the coming weekend in Ndola when they meet in the CAF Confederation Cup Group Stage.

But then which ever players are thrown on the pitch will be looking for a good result and to push for starting line in the CAF games.

Statistic that are available though not verified puts Nkana as the record holders of the Charity shield having won it 16 times while Zesco United lies fourth on the ladder with four titles behind Kabwe Warriors (7), Power Dynamos (6) and Green Buffaloes (5).

A win for Zesco United and they equal the five times Green Buffalloes , one behind Power Dynamos and two behind Kabwe Warriors.

Nkana are the defending champions having won the 2018 edition beating Zesco United 4-3 at Nkolkma Stadium. Ronald Kampamba scored a brace in the 27 and 65 minute while Idris Mbombo who has since left the club got his brace as well in the 56 and 62 minutes .

Goals from Zesco United came through from Anthony Akumu 32, Bornwell Silengo 43 and Lameck Banda 77.

This one looks more cagey and i don’t think we shall see as many goals owning to the defensive mind of George Lwandamina and the not so classic goal getters at the moment at Nkana. Goalless draw after 90 minutes.
