The traditional seasonal opener trophy is up for grabs. And the finalist are long known. It’s Zesco United who dispatched the 2017 Barclay’s Cup losing finalist Napsa, who will lock horns with Nkana FC, who prior to their disappointing trip to the North Africa had beaten 2017 Barclay’s Cup Champions Zanaco.
It’s a potentially an predictable match up.

Nkana will have to stop the dominance that Zesco United has had in the Charity shield in recent years.
The boys from Kitwe’s Wusakile Township need to up their game a little more as they have never beaten Zesco United in the season opener before.
They met in 2011 in the final and Zesco United beat Nkana 3-0 . They again Met in 2017 were Zesco came out 2-0 victors.
The other meeting was in the semi final and the teams played to a 1-1 draw but Nkana lost on penalty shoot outs.
They meet straight from CAF disappointing results and it will be interesting to see how the two coaches approach this encounter.
Both Nkana and Zesco had poor continent outings that is looking bad for the country.

I think the dominance is coming to an end and Nkana should have serious motivation to get this one. But Zesco United just knows how to tame this team when it comes. To Charity shield.
