Ghana Black Stars coach Otto Addo has had his moment in making choices when he named his 26-man Squad to play at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar , this is after succesfully leading the Black Stars to the prestigious tournament in Qatar a deserved kudos.
Otto Addo belives his team can make a significant impact at the World Cup in Qatar despite the exclusions that have illicited hue and cry especially that of Jeffrey Schlupp and Joseph Painstil but that now is water under the bridge as FIFA has already registered the named players.
However coach Addo who had no previous senior coaching experience when he took charge of the Black Stars in February 2022, as he worked as talent manager at Borussia Dortmund must know that it will not be business as usual in Qatar.Ghanaians want results which the coach must produce.
Ghana who are in Group H have their opener against Portugal on November 24th before they face South Korea four days later and lastly Uruguay on December 2. 2022.This are important matches and the first step he must achive is to go past the group stage as he aims at the quarter-finals.
If Ghana do not reach the 2022 FIFA World Cup quarter-finals it will not be because of the players It will be down to a failure of coach Addo philosophy of how to turn typical Ghana weaknesses into match-winning strengths let that sink in.
After the 2010 almost historic fete by Ghana at the World Cup in South Africa any coach at the helm of the Black Stars must know that the Ghana way encompasses the style of play, philosophy ,preparations and selection of players .
And righty or wrongly Atto Addo will be judged if Ghana is successful by the resulfs at the World Cup.The whole point about the Ghana Way is not having excuses and finding ways to have a competitive edge as they face the tough opponents in Qatar.
The appointment of Atto Addo by Ghana Football Association(GFA) under President Kurt Okraku a new policy that began when the new office took charge the new policy must therefore come with tangible results that will uplift not only Ghanaians but the entire African continent.
Otto Addo must infuse the Black Stars with a high level of technical expertise at the World Cup and while winning the World Cup will be asking for albeit “too much” , Ghana have the potential to reach the last eight and make people sit up and take notice.
I can only wish Ghana Black Stars all the very best the ball now is in coach Otto Addo’s hands and his team.
