If it is the numbers, Kenya is among the top 10 populous Countries, If it is economy, Kenya is listed among the top 10 African Countries meaning in Kenya, the resources within are enough to help Harambee Stars qualify in every single AFCON or help Kenyan Club representatives reach at least the group stages of the CAF Competitions.
Countries like Sudan, Algeria, Cape Verde, Congo, Mali etc were punching balls to Kenya in the late 80’s and early 90’s.
One is left to wonder why disciplines like Rugby, Volleyball and Athletics do well globally yet Football which use to put the country to the lime light has turned to be a laughing stock.
Nowadays whenever the Kenya National team takes to the field, most fans including those who don’t watch soccer always give the team a rare chance of winning even if the match is at home.
During the tenure of Job Omino and Peter Kenneth, the country was a force to reckon with the then Kenya Football Federation well managed, players allowances was a thing of the past and rivalry was history.
During the late 90s when the late Reinhardt Fabisch was the coach, Kenya almost graced the 1998 World Cup when it forced Nigeria to a 1-1 draw at home, beating countries like Burkinafaso,Guinea,Gabon etc.
When Kenya got banned from international football then later reinstated, the Football Kenya Limited as it was well known agreed to participate in a unified election with the rival Federation Kenya Football Federation where the current Chairman Sam Nyamweya was elected the President.
Much is to be desired about Nyamweya in his stay at the top of Soccer in Kenya. From Corruption to suspensions etc, the tenure of the man with a lot of experience in soccer has been marred with conflict after conflict.
Women soccer has gone to the dogs with no league to count, the FKF league was duped into a sponsorship with MP &Silva where clubs were promised a fortune only for the Sponsorship to be terminated with clubs like Finlay Horticulture dropping from the league and Shabana FC dishing out walkover.
Why we should not Vote in Nyamweya
The truth is that Sam Keumbu Nyamweya has failed to run Kenyan soccer and by giving him another chance is just burying Kenyan soccer ultimately.
The Tanzania Football Federation is well organized under the leadership of Jamal Malinzi with the top tier and second tier in good coordination with the federation.Youth structures and women league have been given priority with minimal wrangles in the federation.
Back home,Nyamweya runs the federation unprofessionally with the national team going without allowances, players getting stranded after national duty with others told to cater for their air tickets back to their respective countries where they play.
Nyamweya has ‘eaten’ enough’ and Kenyans are not ready to have him back.
We urge the delegates to look into the plights of players and Kenyans at large and vote change.
What Rachier is after?
Rachier’s last entry to vie for the top seat could as well be a scheme or plot by Nyamweya to sneak his way in considering the immense support favourites Nick Mwendwa has accumulated.
Rachier through his powers bestowed upon him by the KPL ltd, issued 4.1Million Kenyan shillings to Nyamweya in a scheme to finance him secretly with Rachier aiming to split the votes of Nick Mwendwa.
The 16 sure votes of KPL and 8 of FKF PL combined with endorsements from Players Association and Referees Association were enough numbers to send an early warning that Mwendwa is going for the top price.
Racier did the same last time and Hussein Mohammed lost to Nyamweya.
Why we need change, the change is Mwendwa
He was trusted by the 18 second tier team chairmen to lead them, he is the chairman of well organized second tier team Kariobangi Sharks, he sponsored the just concluded Nairobi Champions cup won by Terror Squad. He even resigned as FKF Transfer Manager in good faith.
In my on opinion which I believe is not wild, Nick Mwendwa has what it takes to lead Kenyan Soccer.
Winnie Kabinte in her article dubbed ‘Could Mick Mwendwa be the game changer’ terms Kenyan football to be on the sick bed for a long time and give the Kariobangi Sharks Chairman to be the real man to grow tournaments and leagues at the grassroot level.
Mwendwa stands on three pillars in nurturing youth and grassroot football, commercializing the financial aspect of Kenya’s football and restructuring leagues and improving player welfare.
This are things which were unachievable by outgoing Chair Sam Nyamweya. In my wildest imagination, any delegate paid to vote for Nyamweya has no heart for soccer and is still leaving in the old age.
An open letter by one of our own at Soka25east Fredrick Naduli,a former international player describes Mwendwa’s manifesto as good and urges him that his maiden task will be to adopt the national soccer team that has long been an orphan ,get youth structures up and running and harmonize working relations with KPL hence strengthening the league.
With the elite coaches a group of 53 coaches throwing their weight behind him, the footballers Association ,only a blind man will fail to recognize the efforts of this IT Specialists.
The Real Battle in Numbers.
Numbers would only favour the incumbent if he bribes the delegates but going by the recent endorsements, Nick Mwendwa is having the numbers.the National Division Clubs including the teams participating in the second tier,FKF PL just today endorsed the Kariobangi Sharks.
Mwendwa when you get to office.
1.Restructure the league structure once and for all
2.Allow KPL to run the league and any changes to the numbers participating be communicated earlier.
3.Seriously consider grassroot football and start a vibrant women league
4.However much you eat,do something meaningful
