Joseph Esso has completed his switch to Ghana Premier League side, Dreams Football Club from Hearts of Oak.
The versatile man – who can play on either flanks and as a shadow striker inked a two-year deal for an undisclosed fee following a mandatory medical test.
The 23-year-old left the Phobians together with four others namely: Bernard Arthur, Aboubakr Traore who are both forwards and defenders, Christopher Bonnet and Benjamin Agyare after failing to renew his contract.
However, Esso’s decision came as surprise to many football fans – Club’s fans and neutrals who believed the Board and Management could have done everything to retain him.
He becomes the club’s third addition in the ongoing transfer window after Ali Huzaif and Abel Manomey who joined from Bofoakwa Tano and Great Olympics respectively.
Esso was heavily linked to Asante Kotoko prior to his move to the Still Believe lads.
Dreams FC finished Thirteenth with 16 points, while Hearts of Oak were ninth with 21 points in the truncated 2019/2020 Ghana Premier League season.
Esso joined Hearts of Oak from Cape Coast-based Mysterious Ebusua Dwarfs on a three-year deal in 2017.
In those years, he netted 11 goals in 32 appearances: 2017/2018 Ghana Premier League: 4 goals in 13 appearances, 2018/2019 Normalisation Committee Special Competition: 3 goals in 15 appearances and 2019/2020 Ghana Premier League: 4 goals in 14 appearances.
He played a vital role to helping the Local Black Stars Team win silver at the 2019 Wafu tourney staged in Senegal, scoring two goals.
