The Kenya national team head coach Stanley Okumbi has named his contingent of foreign based players for the upcoming friendly matches against Uganda and DR Congo on March 23 and 26 respectively.

Captain Victor Wanyama leads the pack home alongside Zesco United’s Jesse Were and China based Michael Olunga who will both lead Harambee Stars’ attacks in the matches.

A notable absentee among the call up is Ismael Gonzalez, who has been a regular in the squad and had a good game in previous matches.However soka25east has learnt that the youngster has been omitted due to a nagging injury.

Meanwhile,David Ochieng who plies his trade in American side New York Cosmos, has been named in the team after missing out in the recent past.

There is still no place in the team for defender Joseph Okumu who is also based in South Africa, playing for Free State Stars in the PSL while Brian Mandela of Maritzburg United is named among the 11 foreign based players.

Those called up include Abud Omar (Slava Sofia, Bulgaria), Anthony Akumu (Zesco, Zambia), David Ochieng (New York Cosmos, USA), Erick Ouma (FC Kolkheti, Georgia), Jesse Were (Zesco, Zambia) and Johanna Omollo (Royal Antwerp, Belgium).

Others are Ayub Timbe (Beijing Renhe, China), David Owino (Zesco, Zambia), Michael Olunga (Guizhou Zhicheng, China), Brian Mandela (Maritzburg, South Africa) and Victor Wanyama (Tottenham Hotspurs, England).
