Zambia coach George Lwandamina has congratulated striker Collins Mbesuma for winning the ABSA player of the month award.
The Mpumalanga Back Aces striker won the accolade for October in what has been a bright start for the 31-year-old Zambian in the 2015/2016 season.
“It is good for him, it is good for the nation,” Lwandamina said.
“I am sure he is experienced enough now after going through thick and thin in his career and I am sure it will not go to his head. He is an integral part of the national team and we need him.”
Mbesuma currently leads the PSL scorers chart on six goals this season.
The striker was recently recalled to the Zambia fold after a one-year exile by Lwandamina and scored one goal for Chipolopolo in their 2-1 away win over Kenya in a 2017 Africa Cup qualifier in September.
Mbesuma is also expected to be among the yet to be named nine foreign-based players Lwandamina will call-up for next week’s 2018 World Cup qualifier doubleheader against Sudan.
“All I can say for now is we have about nine players who are coming,” Lwandamina said.
Zambia will travel to Sudan to play a second round, first leg qualifier on November 11 before hosting them on November 15 in Ndola.
