Harambee Stars coach, Bobby Williamson, has called up midfielders Peter Nzuki of Nakumatt and Ulinzi Stars Kevin Amwayi in his 20-man squad that will do duty against Mauritius in the first round of qualifiers for the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
Bandari’s AbdulLatif Omar has also been drafted into the side while former captain Dennis Oliech,Kenyan Premier league top scorer Jesse Were,Lawrence Olum,Francis Kahata and Paul Were have been asked from the squad that starts preparations on Friday in Nairobi.
Williamson has kept faith in majority of the players that were involved in 1 – 2 loss to Zambia earlier in September, with skipper Victor Wanyama keeping his place as skipper of the team.
Word out is that Jesse Were and Dunson Kago were axed because of disciplinary issue while Gor Mahia’s lanky forward, Michael Olunga is one of only three strikers in the side, the rest being Allan Wanga and Jacob Kelli.
The goalkeeping duo of Arnold Origi (Norway) and Boniface Oluoch (Gor Mahia) have kept their places as well as defenders Dennis Odhiambo, Brian Mandela, Edwin Wafula, David ‘Calabar’ Owino and David Ochieng ‘Cheche’.
Midfield sensation, Ayub Timbe, who was impressive against Zambia and Bernard Mang’oli are also on the side.
