Tanzania – Joseph Marius Omog was on Friday, July 1,2016 presented to the media as the new Simba SC boss.
Omog, a Cameroon born Coach was unveiled by Simba chairman Evans Elieza Aveva after inking a two year deal at Regency Peacock Hotel, Dar es Salaam.
The 45 years old will be deputised by ex Uganda international Jackson Mayanja who has been serving as the head Coach.
The 2012 CAF Coach of Year nominee, is well experienced in Tanzania football having had a successful stint with Simba city rivals Azam FC in the 2012/13 season – when he guided the Moneybags to maiden “Vodafone Premier League” title.
Omog shot to prominence in African football back in 2012 after guiding Congo Brazzaville’s AC Léopards to CAF Confederations Cup glory – returning the country to continental club football glory in 38 years.
He followed the monumental achievement with a league crown with Azam on first attempt.
Omog has his work clearly cut out as he joins a glory starved Simba literally living in the shadows of sworn rivals Yanga SC. He will be expected more than anything else to deliver the league gong “Wekundu wa Msimbazi” last won in the 2011/12 season and return them continental football.
Simba also named Patrick Kahemele as the new Secretary General in a shake up meant to revitalise the club and take them back to past glory days.
