Uganda one, Denis Onyango, pulled a man of the match performance for Mamelodi Sundowns on Wednesday night, saving two penalties as the “Brazillians” thrashed Kaizer Chiefs 3-1 at the Moses Mabhida Stadium, South Africa to claim the 2015 Telekom Knockout Tournament.
Chiefs threatened a comeback after going down 2-0 by the 51st minute mark, but Onyango’s heroics neutralized the dangers after saving two penalties in the 60th and the 73rd minutes.
It will also be remembered that Onyango recently saved a penalty for country in Uganda Cranes 1-0 victory away to Togo in the Russia 2018 World Cup Qualifiers.
Pitso Mosimane’s charges went ahead early in the fourth minute through Leonardo Castro header before Thabo Nthethe added the second from another header in the 51st minute.
Abrew netted a consolation goal for Chiefs in the stoppage time, but it did nothing to dampen “Downs” celebrations.
