Denis Onyango has celebrated winning yet another award for his achievements in 2016.
The 31-year-old claimed the CAF African based player of 2016 after winning Uganda Sports Press Association(USPA) best footballer,as well as 2016 Caf Champions League with Mamelodi Sundowns.
Onyango has now been named Sport Personality for last year by organizers of annual Zzina awards backed by Galaxy FM,a radio station based in Kampala.
The Sundowns’s star, who became the first Ugandan footballer to be named African footballer of the year by CAF, thanked supporters who have been behind his success.
“It is indeed a honour to be awarded for my achievements. I’m going to work hard and win it again next year,” said Onyango, in anterview with Daily Monitor from his base in South Africa.
“I thank the supporters who have been there for me in good and bad times. Thanks for supporting me.”
Onyango, who was named the captain of the national team recently has been out of action after suffering an injury but he is expected to be back on his feet soon for his ABSA premiership side Mamelodi Sundowns to continue Brazilians quest of another successful year.
