Uganda and Mamelodi Sundowns goalkeeper Denis Onyango is April’s best in the Premier Soccer League.
Onyango, 31, who is also the reigning African Player of the Year based in Africa, returned from injury in the month to help Sundowns move second behind Bidvest Wits in the PSL standings.
He maintained five clean sheets against Lamontville Golden Arrows (0-2), Ajax Cape Town (2-0), twice against SuperSport United (0-1 & 5-0) and Free State Stars.
The former Supersport United and St. George shot stopper became the first goalkeeper to bag the monthly award.
He ward off stiff competition from Lebogang Manyama from Cape Town City, Maritzburg United captain Kurt Lentjies and Mogakolodi Ngele of Bidvest Wits.
Maritzburg United coach Fadlu Davids won the coach of the month award ahead of Onyango’s coach Pitso Mosimane, Bidvest Wits’ Gavin Hunt, Cape Town City’s Eric Tinkler and Steve Komphela, the Kaizer Chiefs coach.
