It is very clear that Kabwe Warriors coach Chintu Kampamba is treading on thin ice as his team continues to flirt with relegation in the Zambian Super League.
Five points from 7 matches is probably unacceptable but one would say, a win for Warriors would lift their spirits and also the position on the table.
Goals have been hard to come by for the Magnificent People’s team.
Their top scorer Clement Mwape plays in defense, but we have seen him being deployed in Central Midfield during the 1-1 draw against Mufulira Wanderers in which he scored.
Mwape also played the same role in that 1-1 draw with Konkola Blades.
The team has seen some massive rotation in attack and midfield.
Is this a sign to show that Chintu is still looking for a suitable formula?
His controversial 3-4-3 formation did not sit well with the fans from the onset and it seems he has reverted to the traditional 4-4-2 formation in the last two games.
Even that has not helped as speculation over his future continues to gain momentum.
Warriors have already lost 2 home matches this season, against Forest Rangers and Green Eagles.
Last season under Mohamed Fathy, Warriors lost only 2 home matches, against Nkana (0-1) and Red Arrows (0-1).
They are at risk of breaking that record very soon.
Decisions need to made and the key lies in his assistant coach Humphrey Malikoni.
Warriors will this Saturday 27 May 2017, travel to Nakambala Leopards, Malikoni’s former team.
Perhaps Malikoni is a trump card up which Chintu needs to play, the sooner he takes the gamble, the better.
