By Fredrick Nadduli;
National football elections are on the final bend, and expectedly, Kenyans are sitting on the edge, fingers crossed whether the sport will plunge down the precipice or finally the football gods will make those responsible for the game’s mess atone for their sins.
Incumbent President Sam Nyamweya is very much in the race, much to the chagrin of many, who would readily give away an arm just to see his back.
TROJAN HORSE
It is clear even to Academy youngsters that Sam and his team are the cancer eating deep into Kenya’s football fabric. Admittedly, this administration has nothing to write home about. The senior national team has failed to attract any sponsors or benefactors. Junior sides are non-existent. Women football is as dead as the proverbial dodo. And the FKF league? dont even go there.
This regime thrives in confusion, and they have found a willing accomplice in FIFA, itself mired deep in murky waters.
While other regional members are on 3rd and 4th phases of FIFA sponsored Goal Projects, FKF dare boast of the project at Kasarani, neglected and mosquito infested. Its no surprise national teams put up in distractive suburb motels, where booze, women and partying reign supreme.
Millions of dollars in FIFA grants cannot be accounted for, amidst the shame that is the current ruling elite.
RUN FOR THE HILLS
With a television company have taken the local scene with gusto following a ‘partnership’ with FKF, the cracks began to show even before the honeymoon was over.
Inevitably, after realising who their marriage partner was capable of, they took to the hills, never to look back. What amazes Kenyans is Sam Nyamweya’s bravado even on the backdrop of such deeds.
The man simply never feels ashamed. Another term with him at the helm, after all the flak he has taken this term, would spell disaster for the sport. Here is a man who does shadow boxing extremely well in the dark.
If he pulls through, his perceived and real enemies had better put on their guard. This will be a caged Leopard finally let loose. Catastrophe.
