Wolfsburg made a huge step towards remaining in top-flight for another season with a clinical 3-1 victory over Holstein Kiel in the first leg of German relegation play-off match played yesterday on Thursday.
The Wolves dominated proceedings from the first whistle and they took the lead when Divock Origi fired home in the 13th minute.
Kiel b restored parity through Kingsley Schindler (34’) only for Josip Brekalo to put the hosts back in front in spectacular fashion five minutes before the interval. A sublime Origi pass set up Yunus Malli to complete the 3-1 scoreline 11 minutes into the second half, giving VfL a two-goal cushion heading into Monday’s second leg at the Holstein-Stadion
With today’s display and with seven goals for Wolfsburg ,Origi is hoping to win the trust of Belgium coach Roberto Martinez who is yet to reveal his World cup squad
