Zesco United defender David “Calabar” Owino is expecting a tough clash against Zanaco at National Heroes Stadium Saturday.
“For sure it’s not going to be a walk in the park,” the Kenyan international offered ahead of the crunch Zambia Super League top of the table clash.
“They are tough opposition more so when they are playing in their backyard,” Owino added.
Zesco are a point behind leaders and defending champions Zanaco in the ZSL on 47 points with a game at hand.
“We are up to the challenge so as to achieve our goals of this which is to the trophy,” the former Gor Mahia defender added.
The first leg at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium offered less than expected as the two giants battled to a barren draw.
The match comes a week before the Ndola giants return to the continental scene where South Africa’s Supersport United awaits in the CAF Confederations Cup quarters.
Owino holds that the Saturday match will be the perfect preparation for the Supersport tie as the two clubs play the same style of football.
“Zanaco is the best game to gauge ourselves. If at their game, it is almost similar to that of Supersport United…too much wing play and counter-attacking football.”
Owino captained the Harambee of Kenya in a 1-1 draw away to Mozambique Mambas during the international break last week.
