Cameroon left back Ambroise Oyongo Bitolo had a succesful surgery on Tuesday to repair patellar tendon rupture in his right knee in a Spanish hospital. 

The 25-year-old suffered the injury in Younde, during the first half of a 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying game aganist Morocco.

“Oyongo had a successful operation after consultation with the surgeon earlier in the day..he is expected to be out approximately six months,” reads a statement by his club Montreal Impact.

Oyongo also took to social media and posted a message on his official facebook page about his condition thanking the national team doctors for quick and effective response.

“I would particulary like to thank the national team’s medical staff..the leaders of federation and Montreal Impact who spared no effort to make this operation a success,”reads part of statement.

The player also asked his fans to remember him im payers and promised that he wil keep them updated about his state of health.

Oyongo will now miss Cofederations Cup tournament that begins this weekend in Russia.Cameroon’s first game at the tournament is on June 18 against Chile.
