Billionaire and Mamelodi Sundowns owner Patrice Motsepe is being lined up to be the next President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
According to soka25east.com sources, South African Football Association (SAFA) executive committee have met and they are executing an endorsement letter for Motsepe as he prepares to present his papers for CAF Presidency on November 12.
Motsepe’s candidacy has blessings from world football governing body FIFA. Currently CAF is being headed by Madagascar’s Ahmad who is facing charges of corruption and abuse of authority.
Ahmad recently announced that he will seek re-election for a second term but a devastating PWC Audit into financial irregularities at CAF have thrown the race open for others to contest.
This will virtually throw Ahmad’s second term bid into disarray. The source further claims that Ahmad will not submit his papers before the November 12 deadline.
Another being lined up for the CAF top Job is Jacques Anouma, the football administrator from Ivory Coast.
Anouma is a former FIFA Exco member and an honorary President of the Ivorian Football Federation.
