The Gabon Football Federation have appointed Frenchman Patrice Neveu as the new coach of the Gabon National team.
Neveu has signed a four-year contract to take over the reigns of the Panthers of Gabon.
Neveu comes in to replace Daniel Cousin who was sacked following his failure to qualify the team for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.
The Frenchman’s tasks among others would be to secure spots in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon and also the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
The 65 year old has vast experience in the African game having stints with Niger in 1999, Guinea from 2004 to 2006.
He also coached DR Congo from 2008 to 2010 and Mauritania from 2012 2014. Neveu has also managed clubs like Guinean giants Horoya AC whom he led to the quarter-finals of the CAF Champions League for the very first time in the club’s history in 2018.
He has also managed some other African clubs in his career which include FUS Rabat (Morocco), Smouha SC and Ismaily SC (Egypt).
