AFC Leopards has officially unveiled Belgian international Patrick Aussems as their new head coach. This comes two days after former Kenyan international and Ingwe’s interim head coach Anthony “Modo” Kimani left his role at the club. Kimani took over after yet another foreigner – Thomas Trucha exited in December.
The 55 year old arrives from Tanzania giants Simba SC where he won a league title in 2018/19. He also reached the quarter finals of the CAF Champions League.
Other clubs the he has worked for in Africa include: Sudan’s Al-Hilal with whom he won the Sudan Super Cup and Congo Brazzaville’s AC Leopards where he won a league title in 2014 and took them to the semifinals of the CAF Confederation Cup the same year.
With a stellar portfolio of winning titles, he will be expected to lead Ingwe to a first FKF Premier League title since 1998. He takes charge when Leopards are in good form sitting on fourth position with 19 points, seven behin d league leaders Tusker.
Aussems is a holder of the UEFA PRO coaching license and has also coached Nepal’s national team.
His first assignment at the den will be the FKF Cup where his charges travel to Wundanyi to face Taita Taveta All Stars.
