Top 8 Knockout Tournament
Date: 26/09/2015
Venue: Moi Stadium, Kisumu
Muhoroni Youth continued to fine tune ahead of tomorrow’s Top 8 tournament match against Gor Mahia by playing a friendly match this morning involving their fringe players against Musanda FC from Western Kenya.
Speaking to Soka25east after the match, Youth head tactician Ugandan Paul Nkata expressed their readiness ahead of the big clash but said they fear the influence of K’Ogalo’s fans also known as the “Green Army”
The fans are expected to flood the lake side city from all corners of Kenya for the battle of the “Unbeatens”
“We can’t avoid them because the match is already set but we are ready for them. We respect Gor because it is a strong side, moreover they are the champions but what we fear most is they play with an extra player, until they score is when you can say you are facing equal number of players, they can also influence the ref to favor their team through intimidation,” Nkata said.
He however said his charges are not under pressure and that they will stick to their game plan and execute it well.
“We are not under pressure, we are going to play like we have been doing and contain them because we know Gor likes to score in the early minutes of a game. The boys are in the right shape of mind.” He added
Muhoroni Youth has had an enviable run in the league especially in the second leg having gone 13 matches unbeaten – they qualified for the round of 16 of the Kenya cup over the weekend after seeing off KCB in post match penalties, a clear testament of a team enjoying their game.
Gor on the other hand has been the team of the season and are already champions of KPL for the third time in a row. It will remain to be seen if Muhoroni will be the first team to beat them this season.
