Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba and Galatasaray striker Bafetimbi Gomis used their triumphant performances in English Premier League and Turkish Super Lig to highlight the issues of migrants sold into slavery in Libya.
This comes after section of international media had reported last week that there are slave auctions and markets in Libya’s southern region as well as parts in Tripoli.
Pogba posted on Instagram after his side 4-1 victory over Newcastle a message that reads “While very happy to be back, my prayers go to those suffering slavery in Libya. May Allah be by your side and may this cruelty come to an end!”
Gomis on his side after scoring his goal celebrated with an unconventional fist action and took to his facebook page and wrote hours after his team 5-1 loss to Başakşehir’s.
“Yesterday I had the chance to score for my team, defeat or victory I must say that my spirit and my feelings were in Libya and in Paris with you who walked against this abomination that is slavery.
“With my eyes closed and my fist raised, this is the way I wanted to celebrate this goal. My heart is bad, the black man is not a market value. When will we stop suffering …..”

The Libyan authorities, including the Interior Ministry and the Foreign Ministry, announced following the report that there had started an investigation into the allegations, adding that if the claims were right, the perpetrators of such an inhuman acts will be prosecuted.
