Pending KWPL fixtures scheduled for Sunday, new Kayole Starlets player aiming for a good season

By Agnes Amondi,

Four fixtures that were pushed forward from the opening weekend of the Kenya Women’s Premier League (KWPL) will be played on Sunday 15 at various venues.

Three of the fixtures are in zone A whilst one in zone B.

Kayole Starlets will host Zetech Sparks at the Stima Members club on Sunday at 1pm. They (Starlets) will be looking to start on a high after struggles in previous seasons.

Last year, they finished in 13th position just above the relegation zone, with a total of 15 points from 27 games. They won only 3 matches, drew 6 and lost 18.

That not withstanding, newly signed left back Bree Mong’ina looks forward to the season with optimism as she points out that they will be working toward having an improved season.

“Most of us are new to each other so first off, we are hoping to forge a camaraderie as well as teamwork in order for us to be able to finish at a good position from last season,”

Also, she admitted that the match against Zetech Sparks will not be easy.

“It’s going to be a challenge since they have a training ground unlike us. We have to share with other teams. Even so, I believe we are well prepared and are looking forward to start the league.”

Elsewhere, Vihiga Queens will launch their title defense against Wadadia in Zone B on Sunday at the Mumias Sports Complex.

Also in action is Gaspo Women, who will face off with Ulinzi Starlets at the Kenyatta University as Kibera Girls Soccer Academy host Thika Queens at the Stima Members Club.
