Top favourites have emerged in the search of Ethiopia Walia Ibex coach left vacant after the sacking of Sewnet Bishaw Soka25east can exclusively reveal.
Ethiopian football federation(EFF) received a total of 27 applications with only two natives applying for the high profile job .
A close source at EFF intimated to Soka25east that the process of shortlisting the coaches had begun in earnest and that top names had emerged as favourites to clinch the position.
Among the four favourites named include former Ethiopia coach Tom Saintfiet from Belgiam,Ljubo Petrovic from Serbian who has immense credentials and is the most qualified in the entire group,Former Ghana coach Goran Stevanovi from Serbia c and Dutchman Ernie Brandts .
EFF will be looking at all the Cv’s presented by the candidates before shortlisting candidates to be chosen from in a process that has been voted as one of the most transparent in Africa .
Ethiopia produced a sublime perfomance in 2013 missing the World Cup 2014 by a whisker after the lost to African champions Nigeria in the World cup 2014 playoffs both home and away.
Ethiopia being a country with thousands of ardent football fans have been anxious for the appointment of a man that will fit in the shoes of Sewnet Bishaw who had success with the team qualifying for Afcon 2013 and Chan 2014 .
Among the coaches who have applied include Wubetu Abate and Yohannes Tesema(Ethiopia), Diego Garzito and Fabio Lopez(Italy), Deselegn Girma and Lars Olof Matsen(Sweden), Bonfrere Jonanes and Ernie Brandts(Netherlands), Stevanovic Goran and Ljubo Petrovic (Serbia), Lordon Stoykoc(Bulgaria), Stephen Constatine , Carlos Cavasano and Roberto Rodrigo(Argentina).
Other are; Hans Michel(Germany), Mariano Jeromino and Zoran Filipovic ([Portugal), Tom Saintfiet (Belgium), Soares Do Espinto and Claudio Roberto Silvera(Brazil), Jose Manuel Gomez (Spain), Mehmet Tayfun Turkment (Turkey),Mark Hamson, Dorian Marin (Romania) and Vladimir Sliskovic(French/Bosnia).
