Mr.Pierre Alain Mounguengui has been re-elected the Gabon Football Federation(FEGAFOOT) President for another four year term.
The veteran football administrator who has been credited for organising a successful 2017 Africa Cup of Nations(AFCON) in Gabon trounced his closest challenger Jerome Effong Nzolo a former FIFA referee who officiated in the Belgian league garnered 13 which is 37% of the votes while the winner Mounguengui garnered 22 votes which is 66% of the vote to retain his seat in the elections held at Lambarene a city approximately 230kms from Libreville and observed by FIFA/CAF representative Mauritania FA President Ahmed Yahya.
Both Mounguengui and Nzolo participated in the first round of voting that had five candidates before the final which saw the two go neck-to-neck with Mounguengui getting another call to be at the helm.
Speaking to www.soka25east.com a jovial Mounguengui alluded to the fact he will be seeking to ensure football development in Gabon including everyone even his opponents.
“I am happy i got the nod of the football delegates to run football in Gabon.That is a vote of confidence in my leadership which i was to be all inclusive.I want to thank all the delegates those who voted for me and those who did not as i promise to work with everyone to make Gabon football better than it is”
“I have many plans that i would like implemented both for youth,women and our senior teams so as to be more competitive across Africa”he added.
