Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane has hailed CAF coaches forum that concluded in Cairo Thursday as a “great idea” that can help improve African football.

The forum followed the CAF Champions League groups’ stage and the Confederations Cup playoffs draws Wednesday in the Egyptian capital.

It presented a platform for the trainers of the groups’ stage clubs to “interact, exchange ideas and knowledge” and as well “discuss how to improve the technical and tactical aspects of the Champions League.”

“It is a great idea, and African football can only improve with such events.

“The interactions and exchanges between the coaches were lively; rivalry is only on the pitch,” the 53-year-old gaffer, who won the 2016 edition of the Africa’s top interclub championships said.

There were also presentations on video and statistics, sports science in modern football and discussion on the increasing rate of sudeen cardiac arrest among African footballers.

Among other attendees were KCCA coach Mike Mutebi, Pamphile Mihayo of TP Mazembe, Township Rollers’ Nikola Kavazovic and Rafik Saihi of MC Alger.

Pitso’s star has continued to rise with Sundowns and was among the first African coaches selected to receive training the newly introduced CAF Pro coaching license.

Annual team managers’ workshop also took place and tackled “extensively” topics such as accommodation, transportation, security, media and marketing.
