Pitso Mosimane has heaped praise on his Al Ahly players after crowning the season with a treble on Saturday evening following a truimph in the Egyptian Cup final.
Al Ahly beat Tala’a El-Gaish on penalties to win their first Egypt Cup title in three years with their last victory coming in 2017.
Al Ahly secured the treble after they were recently crowned African Champions and Egyptian Premier League champions.
Second-half substitute Mahmoud Kahraba opened the scoring for Al Ahly before Nasser Mansi grabbed a 92nd-minute equalizer as the game progressed to a penalty shoot-out where the African champions prevailed.
Speaking after the win, Mosimane reflected on his side winning the treble and spoke highly of his players, comparing them to the older generations.
“We played against a strong Tala’a El-Gaish team, and the ground at Borg Al Arab stadium was not in its best condition,” Mosimane told ON Time Sports.
“I want to thank Mahmoud El-Khatib [club president], Al Ahly management, the technical staff, the players, and everyone who participated in these achievements. I also thank my family and Al Ahly fans.
“When I was at Sundowns, I was eliminated from the Champions League but then I won the same tournament, and this is luck, but I have to be in a special place in order for this luck to help me achieve titles,” he added.
