Platinum Stars coach Cavin Johnson has insisted that they are going for a win and nothing else on Saturday 11 when they face Vipers SC in a CAF Confederations Cup match at St.Mary’s Stadium,Kampala.
The Dikwena as the team is populary known made it past preliminary stages after beating Mozambican side Uiao do Songo 2-0 on aggregate and speaking to club portal the coach has revealed that their aim is to win the match and nothing else.
“We are going out there and to do our best. We are going to play the best football as we can and try display the best brand for South African football going forward,” said Johnson.
The coach expressed confidence of his players ahead of the crucial match that will determine their progress into the group stages of the competition.
“We are not looking at CAF, PSL or Nedbank Cup. We are looking at it as a team that has to do well. Whatever comes our way, we have got to put our best foot forward,” said Johnson who adds that Dikwena have to keep their feet on the ground.
“We have information on our opponents. We know who their key players are, where they play and how they play. It’s not like they are a closed book. We are just going to take them with our technical ability our opponents. We are prepared. We beat the Mozambicans but we mustn’t get carried away with the Ugandans. We have to take each game as a final. That’s what we are trying to do. Each game has to be taken serious from our side.”
The South African side departed this morning and are expected later today in Kampala ready to face the Kitende based side on Saturday and return on Sunday.
