Nigeria national team captain John Obi Mikel will miss Super Eagles’ friendly match against Poland scheduled for tonight at Mileski Stadium in Wroclaw.
The former Chelsea midfielder was not able to renew on time his work permit in China where he plays for Tianjin Teda FC.
His unavailability was confirmed by Super Eagles administrator Dayo Enebi Achor in an interview with Nigeria Football Federation portal earlier this week.
“We all had been hoping that the renewal would come in good time for him to fly to Poland,” he said.
Super Eagles will also miss the services of Oghenekaro Etebo, who is injured, and Junior Ajayi, who was unable to secure a visa to Poland, will fly directly to London for Tuesday’s clash with Serbia.
It remains to be seen whether Obi, 30, will join them in England in the match scheduled to be played at The Hive Stadium.
