URA, Lweza and Kenyan side Tusker face a major battle to sign prolific forward Umar Kasumba after Police FC tactician Angelo Lonyesi revealed that they will do anything they can to keep their asset.
Kasumba has been strongly linked with a move away from the club following a superb half season for the cop side, in which he has scored 9 goals already, three ahead of what he had managed by this time.
The Cranes trialist is rated as one of the best strikers in the country and has been attracting various clubs in the country and abroad.
But Lonyesi is determined to keep his star asset at the club and, even though Kasumba’s contract runs out in March this year, he hopes he can stop all the speculation over his future by convincing the player to agree to a new long-term deal
‘’We can’t let go of our asset now,’’ noted Lonyesi. ‘’ We are a top club and we are competing for the title. So don’t expect us to be cheap to release our top striker at such a crucial moment. We shall cling on him as we are negotiating and we aim to extend his contract.”
Kasumba is currently joint top with Robert Sentongo on the Uganda Premier league leading scorers chat with nine goals from 15 games
