Mauritius’ side AS Port Louis 2000 goalkeper Joseph Leopold has been ruled out of CAF Champions League clash aganist Al-Hilal of Sudan because of drug trafficking charges.

According to the BBC, the 27 year old goalkeeper was granted a bail in September after an Anti-Drug Smuggling Unit found 22 doses of heroin in his home in Port Louis.

ASPL 2000 eliminated Tusker FC 3-2 on aggregate a fortnight ago and were due to play the first leg of their Champions League tie against Sudan champions on Sunday.

During the mention of the case,his lawyer told the court in Port Louis that his client would respect the bail conditions and could not in any way use the opportunity to escape the country.

However the district court magistrate could not hear the request from the one time national team goalkeeper.

Leopoard also missed the firts leg encounter aganist Tusker in early February in a match that was played in Moi International Sports Centre Kasarani where ASPL drew 1-1.

He had an opportunity in the return leg in Mauritius where he was had powerful display denying the brewers two clear chances.
