Zambia’s Zesco United will this evening Friday 15 September 2017 go up against South African side Super Sport United in the first leg of the CAF Confederations Cup Quarter Final at the Lucas Moripe Stadium in Pretoria with kick off billed for 19:00 hrs.
Zesco United coach Zlatko Krmpotic will be relying on the services of an 18 man crack squad to do the job for Team ya Ziko.
Davies Kasirye and Jesse are expected to lead Zesco’s attack with Kondwani Mtonga taking up the Central midfield role. Fackson Kapumbu, Simon Silwimba, David Owino and Ben Adama Banh could all line up in defense.
Krmpotic is expecting a tough game but optimistic that his team can pick up a positive result.
“Super Sport are a good side but we also have our target. “This is the first game (of the tie) so we must make a good result to take something positive out of this match,” Krmpotic said at the pre-match conference in Pretoria
Meanwhile Super Sport United coach Eric Tinkler is looking forward to progress further in the tournament.
“Both teams have done well to reach at this phase of the tournament. Zesco United are a very good team. We have studied them for a while.
“I watched a couple of videos and spent sleepless nights looking at them. They had good games in the group stages, a well structured side. We have to be at our very best if we we have to beat them,” Tinkler said.
And Super Sport United captain Dean Furman said he and his team mates are looking forward to the tie.
“Ever since the draws were made we have been looking forward to this game. Zesco are a big team on the continent. However, we are growing into the competition, the result against TP Mazembe has really helped us grow as a team and we are looking forward to what will be tough two legged tie come Friday,” he said.
