The Red Devils of Congo will be hoping to bag a crucial home win against Sudan when they host them at the Stade Municipal de Pointe-Noire this Wednesday. A win will see them extend their tally to six points and probably take over the leadership of Group A.
Claude Le Roy`s troops will be banking on the brilliance and fine form of Thievy Bifouma who turns out for UD Almeria in La Liga. He set up Prince Oniangue before notching a brace that helped them overcome defending champions Nigeria 3-2 in Calabar.
That hard fought away win put them in second place in the group behind Bafana Bafana of South Africa who have a superior goal difference. Sudan are last having lost their opening match 3-0 at home to South Africa.
Sudan coach Mohammed Mazda will be looking to rekindle their hopes of qualifying for the Afcon 2015 finals by picking up a decent result in Pointe-Noire.He will be hoping that the experienced Al Hilal duo of El Muz Maghoub and Mohammed `Bisha` Ahmed will inspire his side to a crucial away win.
The last time these two sides met in 2011, Sudan emerged 1-0 winners in an away fixture and this gives them confidence going into this tie. These two sides have met four times with Sudan winning thrice while Congo has only won once. History clearly favors Sudan but Mazda is aware that history cannot win a match.
