Newly promoted AUPL side Proline FC boosted their trophy cabinet ahead of the upcoming Azam Uganda premier league season by winning the first ever KCCA invitational pre-season cup tournament that was played for two days at Phillip Omondi stadium.

Proline started the tournament with a clash against Lweza on Saturday evening drawing 1-1 after 90 minutes and later winning on penalties 3-1 to book a date with hosts KCCA FC.

Against KCCA FC, both coaches Mujib Kasule and Mike Mutebi assembled strong squads and it was KCCA FC that took a lead through a header from striker Derrick Nsibambi.

From there, Proline attacked from all corners in hunt of an equaliser and it was defender Savio Kabugo who came closer only for his goal to be disallowed for off side.

The long awaited moment came when defender Martin Mpuga brought down Edriisa Lubega for a free kick which tournament’s leading scorer Gift Ali perfectly curled into the back of the net.

Proline got other goals through Mandela Joseph and Edriisa “Torres”Lubega to lift the inaugural pre-season tournament.

Other teams that participated in the two days tournament were Soana FC and Lweza FC.

Congratulations Proline FC.
