The PSL have acceded to a request from SAFA to have several fixtures rescheduled to assist Bafana Bafana coach Stuart Baxter in his preparation for their final AFCON qualifier.
The Premier Soccer League on Thursday confimed changes to five fixtures scheduled for the weekend before Bafana are set to face Libya in their final 2019 Africa Cup of Nations group stage qualifying fixture next month.
This comes as an attempt to aid the national team in their preparations for the all-important match, from which South Africa need at least a point to book their place at the continental showpiece in Egypt later this year.
Though fixture details have yet to be confirmed by the hosts, the match is expected to be staged in Tunisia on March 22, and Baxter is hoping to assemble his squad a few days early in order to travel and begin preparations for a match that could decide his future.
In a statement released by the League, it noted the four fixtures which are due to be brought forward in date and time, while a fifth is set to be moved merely to an earlier kick-off.
The Premier Soccer League received a request from the South African Football Association for assistance in moving some Absa Premiership fixtures on the week and weekend ahead of the international break.
This was to give Bafana Bafana enough time to prepare for their crucial Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Libya.
Although this season has already presented many challenges to the PSL in fixture scheduling including changes necessitated by the CAF calendar changes, the League, in consultation with Member Clubs, sponsors and broadcasters, acceded to the request.
The changes will affect Absa Premiership fixtures scheduled on Friday 15 March, Saturday 16 March and Sunday 17 March 2019.
