Lidoda Duvha yesterday announced the former Gor Mahia coach as their head coach  amid speculation ex-Free State Stars mentor Luc Eymael was also a contender for the job.

The 51-year-old Englishman, a one-time assistant coach at Mpumalanga Black Aces, recently resigned from Gor after guiding the Kenyan giants to back-to-back league titles.

Kerr took over the reins from Joel Masutha, who quit last week with the side in 14th place on the Absa Premiership title with nine points from 11 matches.

“Basically it’s his track record and style of play of the teams he used to coach,” Ramunenyiwa tells KickOff.com.

“And the way he was actually doing in Kenya you know, that his team has been doing well. There are many other issues that the selecting team had to consider, and eventually decided on him. And he did work here in South Africa before.”

Ramunenyiwa refused to reveal the length of Kerr’s contract with the club.

“You see as we grow every day we try not to get into contracts of players and coaches. It’s part of other policies that we’ve noted, so even to him it’s the same, it applies. We must not disclose employee, employer details as at times it works against us. Our policy is that simple when it comes to the employee, employer contract. We have agreed that let’s keep them to ourselves.”
