Kenyan striker Jesse Were has been a hit in the Zambia Super league since his summer move to Zesco United from Tusker.
Despite banging four league goals for Zesco United in three appearances and two in CAF Champions league,Were has failed to impress when summoned to the Kenyan national team Harambe stars. This has raised eyebrows among fans and the media, what could be the reason why a player who is scoring goals for fun at his club can hardly direct the ball on target when called for national duty.
Zambian based soka25east writer James Sibeleki talked with the striker in a Question and Answer interview,Unfortunately he couldnt respond the reason why he’s failed to sparkle when playing for Kenya.
A warm welcome to yet another intriguing episode of Q & A on soka25east.com with James Sibeleki.Today am hosting Kenyan and Zesco United striker Jesse Were.
SOKA25EAST: Afternoon to you Jesse and congratulations for scoring a brace for Zesco United against NAPSA Stars today.
JESSE: Thank you.
SOKA25EAST: You performance with Zesco United has been superb since joining them but that can’t be said for your performance with Harambe stars,What could be the reason for this? Could it be that the Kenyan national team handlers are not using you properly?
JESSE: Honestly I can’t answer that question, hope you will bare with me.
SOKA25EAST: No problem,I understand your reasonsing. You were top scorer in Kenya last season. Are we going to see the replica of your KPL form? Have you set a goal? Do you think you can win the golden boot here in Zambia as well?
JESSE: Yes that was in Kenya, here it’s Zambia.I haven’t set any personal target because am here to help Zesco archive more trophies. That’s my target and if I happen to win the golden boot that’s a plus for me.My main focus is to help the team get more positive results.
SOKA25EAST: Interesting! Zesco United are in the group stages of the 2016 CAF Champions league and once again congratulations for the goal you scored against Stade Malien. What are the three clubs, would you prefer to be paired with? (Zamalek,Al ahly,Wydad Casablanca,Enyimba,ES Setif,ASEC Mimosas and AS Vita Club).
JESSE: On the group stages,we will have to wait for the draws.
SOKA25EAST: That’s right,is it your fist time at this level?
JESSE: Yes it is.
SOKA25EAST: Finally,Having played in both the Zambia Super league and the Kenyan premier league how would you rate the two? And how would you rate the Zambia Super league in Africa?
JESSE:Every league is competitive in their own way.
SOKA25EAST: What a clever way to respond to a question! Twatola sana (Thank you alot) for your time enjoy your night.
