Rayon Sports beat arch rivals APR 2-0 to bag 2017 FERWAFA Super Cup at Stade de Kigali Wednesday.

The clash of the heavyweights paves way for the new Rwanda Premier League 2017/18 season.

The match was played for 27 minutes to complete the mandatory 90 minutes after it was abandoned Saturday due to power outage at Stade Umugunda, Rubavu District.

Rayon’s goals were scored on Saturday through Malian Ismailla Diarra in the 34th minute and Burundian Pierrot Kwizera in the 62nd minute.

APR’s spirited efforts to overturn the score in the 27 minutes were thwarted by the reigning Rwanda champions.

The two giants of Rwandan club football will represent the country in the CAF club championships next year.

APR who are the Peace Cup winners will take part in the CAF Confederations Cup while Rayon will represent the country in the prestigious African Champions League.
